Thanksgiving With Ellen

We went to see Ellen in Silver City, NM for Thanksgiving. We left after I got off of work and drove straight through the night.  Thankfully, Ellen was watching for us when we pulled in because I was driving around in her neighbor's back yard. I do have to keep up my reputation of horrible driver...I never took drivers ed. Don't judge.

We had some amazing food on this trip.  Thanksgiving dinner was great!  Jessye shared a turkey recipe that made our turkey juicy and tender. The mashed potatoes had about 300 calories per bite of buttery, creamy goodness,  and we ate our fill of green chili on just about everything.

My favorite part of the trip was going to Mexico!  Ellen would tell us stories about how she loved to go to the Pink Store in Palomas.  This store, which was right on the border, had just about everything you could want.

The Pink Store was so colorful.  As soon as we entered, we were given margaritas to sip on while we shopped.  I was in LOVE.  We walked around for a good hour admiring the craftsmanship, colors, and detail of all the different pieces. We had just purchased a new entertainment center and were looking for that "something" to bring our whole living room together.  Ellen told us to pick out what we wanted so that we could take home a piece of Palomas.

After we were finished shopping, we had some lunch (and more margaritas!...at least I did).  The food was amazing and the atmoshpere was so friendly!  After we ate, we picked up our bags and walked them back across the border to head home.

A quick stop at a museum on the drive home!  Owen....getting a nice picture with this guy is as hard as getting water out of a rock.
You might be wondering what we found to bring home with us. Ellen bought us dishes (glasses, salt dish, etc), decorative pieces and THIS guy!
